Overview

Jimmy Carter and Leonid Brezhnev sign the second Strategic Arms Limitation Treaty (SALT II) treaty in Vienna, June 18, 1979. The treaty was the culmination of a second round of talks between the U.S. and Soviet Union seeking to curtail further development of nuclear arms.
